Exeter PTO reports strong engagement; plans trunk-or-treat, spirit wear and Get Fit in May outreach

The PTO provided a brief update to the board about recent activities, volunteer needs and upcoming events at Main Street School.
Highlights and events - Attendance and meetings: PTO representatives said they have held two well-attended meetings, introduced short presentations to engage caregivers, and plan to continue monthly presentations on topics of interest. "We are formatting our meetings a little bit differently. We are trying to offer a 10 minute presentation to try to engage caregivers," the PTO presenter said.
- Presenters: the PTO said Alex Allen, the new Get Fit in May director, spoke about the race, and Maureen Kiesel, a Main Street librarian, spoke about healthy screen-time balance for children.
- Activities: the PTO ran a costume exchange that distributed free costumes over two days and at a recent movie night. They are organizing a trunk-or-treat on Friday, Oct. 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Main Street School; the event is geared to Main Street students but siblings are welcome. Volunteers and local businesses are assisting with themed trunks and tables.
- Fundraising and operations: the PTO is building a website (Molly Lewis assisting) and planning spirit-wear and other items to sell ahead of the holidays (gloves, neon glow shirts for a February glow party). The group reported it still needs volunteers for one or two positions on the PTO leadership team and that the PTO presidency is a two-person role to be refilled next year.
Next steps: the PTO said it will continue monthly presentations, finalize trunk-or-treat logistics, and follow up on open volunteer positions ahead of the holidays.
