The Hernando Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Board approved a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roll-forward amendment to the FY 2026–2030 Transportation Improvement Program and adopted consent items during a business meeting. The board also appointed an acting chair to preside over the meeting.
The roll-forward amendment updates the TIP to reflect projects and funding that were not encumbered in 2025 or that require adjustments in 2026 to match the FDOT work program. MPO staff recommended approval and authority for the chair to sign an accompanying FDOT letter. The board voted by roll call to approve the amendment and authorized the chair’s signature.
The meeting also approved standard consent items: review and approval of the MPO’s Aug. 7, 2025 meeting minutes; approval of alternate members from the City of Brooksville to the Hernando Citrus MPO and the Suncoast Transportation Planning Alliance; and approval of contract amendment 1 to the Kimley-Horn general planning consultant contract. Those consent items passed by voice vote.
Procedural actions earlier in the meeting included the board appointing Commissioner Kennard as acting chair for the session; that appointment passed on a voice vote. The meeting adjourned after routine board comments.
Votes at a glance - Roll-forward amendment to the FY 2026–2030 TIP: Motion to approve and authorize chair to sign (motion made by: not specified in roll call; second by Mayor Meek was recorded). Roll-call vote recorded as 7–0 in favor. Outcome: approved. - Consent agenda (minutes, Brooksville alternates, contract amendment to Kimley-Horn): Passed by voice vote 7–0. Outcome: approved. - Appointment of an acting chair (Commissioner Kennard): Passed by voice vote. Outcome: approved.
Why this matters: The TIP amendment aligns local projects and schedules with FDOT’s work program and enables continued state-managed project delivery and grant reimbursement. Approval of consultant contract amendments and alternate appointments maintains MPO staffing and representation needed to carry out planning work.
