Cumberland County recognizes nonprofits awarded Impact Grant support funded by ARP

A commissioner told attendees the board had authorized the grant program and had approved awards to local nonprofits. He said representatives of many recipient organizations were present at the meeting for ceremonial recognition and that recipients would be invited to a reception. "We will be showing you all a reception meet and greet. So stay tuned. You will be receiving that letter within this week so that we can extend and, and, properly give you the well due recognition that you all deserve," the commissioner said.
The county named dozens of nonprofits during the recognition, including United Way of Cumberland County, Good Crisis Volunteers (as listed in meeting remarks), Spring Lake Family Service Supports, Carolina Community Care, Cumberland County Coordinating Council on Older Adults, Thompson Child and Family Focus, Coastal Horizons, Connections of Cumberland County, Youth Thrive of North Carolina, Community Health Interventions, Southlight Health Care, Legal Aid of North Carolina, and others. Commissioners said ceremonial checks would be presented and additional information would be sent to recipients by email.
County officials did not state the total program budget or the exact award amounts for each nonprofit during the meeting. Meeting remarks said the program was established "to allow nonprofit organizations that perform a public purpose to apply for up to 50,000 in direct assistance to reimburse qualifying organizations' expenses," and that the awards were drawn from ARP-related freed-up general fund capacity dollars.
The recognition took place during the commissioners' regular meeting and followed earlier ceremonial retirements and employee recognitions. Commissioners paused briefly after the recognition to allow recipients to exit the chamber.
