Las Vegas — Members of the Las Vegas Senior Citizens Advisory Board used their Aug. 7 meeting to spotlight neighborhood programs in Ward 4 and to raise a local fee concern affecting a senior center.
David Tilzer, the board member who represents Sun City (Ward 4), described a string of community events held for older residents: a May "One Community" celebration attended by more than 400 residents, a Knox Box distribution event on May 29 where nearly 350 people attended, and a July Fourth golf-cart parade with more than 60 decorated carts. Tilzer said Sun City Summerlin is the first residential area in Nevada to pilot the Knox Box program and that, through June, almost all of the installed boxes were in place.
