Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County presented a proposal to rezone 0.66 acres on Examiner Court and to approve a preliminary master development plan for a six-unit residential project on Oct. 25, calling the design a “pocket neighborhood” intended to promote shared open space and long-term affordability.
Jim Carpenter, staff planner, said the owner and applicant requested rezoning from CS (Commercial Services) to MRO (Multiple Residential and Office) for the site south of Examiner Court and west of Sumner Hall Drive. He told commissioners the site was the former News Examiner building and is adjacent to the Habitat ReStore and Habitat’s administrative offices.
