RDA declines to sell downtown parklet; board asks staff to explore lease and other options

The Provo Redevelopment Agency (RDA) board discussed a proposed sale of a small downtown parklet on Oct. 21 after the Harris Group asked to buy the parcel to expand an indoor event venue with an outdoor component. The board ultimately voted 4–1 not to sell the parcel at this time and asked staff to explore alternatives such as a lease.
RDA Director Melissa McNally reviewed the property’s recent appraisal history, ownership background and offers. McNally said one appraisal ordered by staff returned a value of about $315,000 (roughly $104 per square foot).
