The presenter warned committee members that delaying the second vehicle could push maintenance costs higher because older patrol cars require more repairs; the presenter said the department had budgeted $19,500 for vehicle maintenance in 2026 compared with $15,600 in 2025.
Committee members were told council retains authority to amend the mayor’s capital proposal. Dispatch staff reported no changes to their operating or capital requests and had nothing substantive to add.
Committee members moved and approved a recommendation to forward both police and dispatch projects to the mayor and council. Approval came by voice vote; members answered “Aye” and the chair declared the motion passed.
Presenters said final staffing and line-item allocations remain subject to follow-up after council deliberations. The committee asked for no further changes at the meeting.
