The Madison County School Board voted 5-0 to approve a three-year order acknowledgment with Syntegix to equip staff at the high school and Central School with wearable panic badges and related safety systems.
District staff described the Syntegix package as including wearable panic badges for staff, visitor management, strobe lights in classrooms and halls, and integration with the public-address system and computers so a lockdown alert would broadcast districtwide and flash screens. Staff said the system could be configured to work in nonemergency situations as well and could integrate with digital maps to locate the source of a panic alert to the classroom level.
During discussion board members raised the same concern they had earlier about multi-year vendor lock-ins; staff said Syntegix offered multi-year pricing and the district had negotiated terms considered favorable. The motion to approve the Syntegix order acknowledgment as presented (motion by Miss Thompson, second Miss Knight) passed 5-0.
Action details: approve Syntegix contract as presented — passed 5-0. Staff said implementation will follow vendor scheduling and include distribution of wearable badges to staff at the two sites named in the proposal.
Ending: District staff will finalize the contract documents, begin the procurement and scheduling process, and brief the board on implementation timelines as devices are ordered and installed.
