Reed Golf Course reports higher year-over-year revenue; concessions expenses rose with sales

At its Sept. 22, 2025 meeting, the Parks and Rec committee received an informational report on Reed Golf Course's August 2025 revenue and expenses. Department staff said the course is ahead of last year's figures by about $27,000 and may set another annual record.
A committee member asked about a notable drop on the concessions line. The director explained that the course's expenses were "available negative 10,542," and that higher expenses tied to concessions were a function of selling more product: "We end up going over in expenses because we end up going over in revenue, our projections for revenue. So end up buying more just to sell more, basically. So that's a kind of a good thing," the director said. The director added that increased alcohol and food sales account for the higher concessions expense but are offset by higher overall revenue.
Committee members had no further questions and moved on to other informational items. The report was presented for information only; no committee action or vote was taken on the Reed Golf Course report at this meeting.
