Library report: Hoopla limits, Wall That Heals placement, Little Free Library award and garden activity

Library staff presented the monthly report, summarizing digital-resource adjustments, community events and outreach work at the Sept. 1 Wylie Library Advisory Board meeting.
Staff told the board the library will not renew the Creativebug subscription because usage is low. The library pays per-checkout services such as Hoopla and said it had restricted some Hoopla access during the summer to stay within budget.
Staff reported that the Wall That Heals traveling Vietnam veterans memorial will be placed at Founders Park in the southernmost field, with the exhibit truck in the parking lot. The library has scheduled high school juniors to visit during the exhibit’s run and staff noted opening-ceremony timing was adjusted to avoid high-school track events; the exhibit will be open 24/7 while installed.
The library received a literacy award from Wylie Rotary East Fork for a Little Free Library project created with Delta Kappa Gamma and the Lions Club; staff said two Little Free Libraries were installed, one at the Wylie Public Library and one at the Seagoville Public Library (noted in the meeting as "Saksi Public Library" in conversation). The board praised the project and staff accepted the award in a Rotary ceremony.
Staff also described ongoing garden work led by a Collin County Master Gardener volunteer, ongoing ESL and GED classes in partnership with Collin College, and multiple October events including National Night Out (Oct. 7), a fundraising ghost tour (Oct. 3–4), Dungeons & Dragons programming (Oct. 18) and teen activities including the October author visit noted in the staff spotlight.
Volunteers and board members were invited to assist at National Night Out and other fall events.
No board action was taken; the report was informational.
