Council recognizes residents who helped resuscitate a child at backyard pool

The Huber Heights Fire Division presented certificates Sept. 22 honoring several citizens whose actions helped save a 4-year-old child who was found pulseless at the bottom of a residential pool on July 29.
Fire Chief Nisley and staff described how Jamie Davis and Callie (spelled variously in the record as Cali/Callie) Davis alerted parents after finding the child in the pool; Tim and Kendra Davis pulled the child from the pool; Austin performed CPR and, with Tim, continued resuscitation until emergency medical services arrived. Fire staff said the child, identified in remarks as Eleanor, regained a pulse and was breathing by the time EMS crews arrived.
Why it matters: The city publicly acknowledged a coordinated effort by neighbors and family that, according to fire staff, directly contributed to a positive outcome in a life-threatening emergency.
What officials said: Chief Nisley thanked the people involved and presented certificates to Jamie and Callie Davis during the meeting. "So without you guys, this probably could have been a much different day," Chief Nisley said, and the council joined in recognizing the group.
Ending: Eleanor joined those on stage so the council and attendees could see the child playing; city officials and council members expressed appreciation and noted the event as an example of community response saving a life.
