At its Aug. 26 meeting the Huntsville Planning Commission took the following formal actions (motions taken by voice unless otherwise noted). Items will be transmitted to City Council where required. Times below refer to meeting agenda sequencing.
- Square at Big Cove (zoning plat and subdivision): Motion for layout approval on 2 lots with a waiver (approved). Motion for layout and preliminary approval on 53 lots (approved). Final approval on the two‑lot zoning plat (approved). (See discussion earlier in meeting; developer to submit engineering and drainage plans.)
- Pulaski Pike Booster Pump Station (LC&E/Location, Character & Extent, Item 3a): Committee recommended LC&E approval for Pump Station No. 1000; commission approved. Applicant presented a 30x30 pump building, 8‑foot security fence, and coordination of finishes with the existing tank mural. No public comment.
- Street name changes: • Avocent Way → Old Monrovia Road NW (Item 4a): Committee recommendation to approve; commission approved. - Final plat approvals (no public hearing required): • Diamond Park Subdivision Phase 1 — final approval on 23 lots (approved). Improvements and sidewalks scheduled for installation by Aug. 20, 2027. • The Grove at Towne Madison South — final approval on 138 lots (approved). Improvements and sidewalks scheduled for installation by Aug. 19, 2026/2027 as noted. • Silo Hill Phase 5 at McMullen Cove — final approval on 21 lots (approved). Improvements and sidewalks deadlines noted in staff report. • Square at Big Cove zoning plat — final approval on 2 lots (approved).
- Invocation and extension of bonds (items listed for invocation): Planning staff recommended invocation of items 1–3 (approved by the commission).
How votes were taken: Most actions were adopted by voice vote or committee motion; where a roll call or count was requested the clerk recorded the final tally (as in the Bob Wade Lane name‑change recommendation, 5–4).
