The commission approved the rezoning request, REZ-25017 (Waldron Enterprises), by roll call, 9-1. The motion passed “with staff comments,” and commissioners said stormwater and design details will be reviewed during the required preliminary plan and construction-plan stages.
Residents who live adjacent to the site told the commission they regularly experience standing water and worry development will increase flooding. “I’ve got a $6,000 dike already around my home to keep it out,” said a neighbor who identified himself at the podium and said he has lived at his property for 30 years.
