Preliminary budget hearing opens; district proposes 130.68 mills preliminary levy

Grand Forks Public Schools opened a public hearing Sept. 8 on the district’s preliminary budget and certificate of tax levy for fiscal year 2026. District presenter Baumbach told the board the preliminary levy is 130.68 mills, the same levy level as the prior year, and noted this is the preliminary—not final—budget adopted previously by the board on July 29, 2025.
Baumbach said this meeting was the public hearing opportunity and that final consideration of the 2025–26 budget and property tax levy will occur at the Sept. 22 board meeting. No members of the public asked to speak during the hearing.
