The Peabody Institute Library trustees in Danvers unanimously approved routine meeting minutes, three monthly treasurer reports and an amended internal departmental budget for fiscal year 2026 at their first post-summer meeting.
The board voted to approve the minutes of the June 11 meeting. Trustee Jess moved the motion and Trustee Ken seconded; the vote was recorded as unanimous "Aye." The board also approved monthly treasurer reports for May 30–June 30, June 30–July 31 and July 31–Aug. 29. The treasurer reported investment balances and year-to-date performance for each period before the board approved the reports by voice vote.
On the FY26 internal departmental budget, trustees approved an amended version that removed a placeholder $10,000 professional-development line that the treasurer recommended deleting. Charles moved to accept the amended budget; another trustee seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
Why it matters: The approvals keep routine financial oversight current and put the trustees on record about the library’s spending priorities for the coming year. The budget vote formalizes the board’s internal spending plan and confirms the trustees’ intent to use state-aid and trust funds for programming, digital resources and other designated needs.

Notes on the internal budget
The director outlined that the library moved $2,500 from a print-reference line into an e-library line to reflect rising digital-resource costs. The trustees discussed three major e-resource lines: a consortium/collection line listed at $54,500, an OverDrive (ebooks & eaudio) line at roughly $27,000, and a Noble consortium fee listed in the meeting packet (noted during discussion at $22,194). Trustees discussed continued upward pressure on e-resource costs and the difficulty of managing per-use services such as Hoopla and Kanopy.
No formal opposition to any of the motions was recorded.
