Wake Forest amends code to set Averette Road speed limit at 45 mph

The Wake Forest Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to amend the town code’s traffic schedule to set a single 45-mph speed limit on a stretch of Averette Road.
Tim Watson, the town’s engineering director, told commissioners the change responds to a request from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and reflects increased traffic volumes and recent land-use changes. Watson said the town ordinance will be revised to remove two smaller segments and replace them with a single segment posted at 45 mph from NC 98 (Wade Avenue) to Oak Grove Church Road.
Watson told the board the change will create a consistent speed limit along the corridor and make enforcement and signage simpler as development continues.
Commissioners moved to approve the ordinance amendment under Chapter 30, Article 6, Section 30-263 of the town code; the motion carried unanimously on a voice vote.
