Resident raises safety and pest concerns at Rudasill Park; parks staff to follow up

Deborah Heinzias, a Flower Mound resident who lives near Rudasill Park, told the Town Council she had called town staff multiple times about maintenance problems at the park, including an unrepaired fountain, overgrown grass near a canal opening, and rats near benches and courts.
Heinzias said the conditions posed a safety concern for residents who walk their dogs and for children. "It's filled with grass, mosquitoes, the rats," she told the council. "We've had in last week 4 rats that my husband caught and literally we live on the water."
Council response and staff follow-up
Mayor Cheryl Moore and other council members acknowledged the complaint and said parks and recreation staff were present to take notes. The mayor asked park staff to look into the issues and to follow up directly with the resident. A parks staff member replied, "What we'll do is we'll look into these issues and we'll follow-up with you. I'm taking notes and we also have our parks and recreation director here taking notes. So we'll look into it and we'll follow-up."
No formal action was taken; council treated the remarks as public comment and directed staff to inspect Rudasill Park and report back to the resident and to the council if required. Council did not set a formal deadline for the follow-up at the meeting.
