Wylie — The Wylie City Council on Aug. 12 approved the appointment of Chris Smith as an alternate member of the Board of Review for a term beginning Aug. 12, 2025 and ending June 30, 2027.
Chris Smith interviewed at the meeting and told the council he has lived in Wylie more than 40 years and has experience serving on a CEO group in Dallas for 13 years, where ethics review was part of his duties. He said he would be available to serve when called as an alternate. "Yeah. Absolutely," Smith said when asked whether he could be available when needed.
Mayor Pro Tem Gino Malice made the motion to appoint Smith; Councilman David R. Duke seconded. The council voted 6-0 to confirm the appointment.
Why it matters: The Board of Review hears certain local review matters for which alternates may be needed if regular members are unavailable. The alternate will serve as called through June 30, 2027.
What comes next: No additional action was taken at the meeting; the appointment is effective immediately and the council thanked Smith for his willingness to serve.
