Indian Trail Town Council unanimously approved two annexations and associated zoning map amendments and consistency findings during its regular meeting.
The council approved Annexation 173 (zoning map amendment ZM20250052) for a roughly 3‑acre parcel adjacent to the Union Grove/Unionville Indian Trail Road area and assigned the parcel Indian Trail SF‑1 zoning, the town staff said. The council also approved Annexation 174 (ZM20250042) to bring four parcels on McMillan Drive (Brandon Oaks subdivision) into town limits and assigned SF‑2 zoning to align the lots with adjacent parcels.
Both annexations were presented by planning staff and described by staff as consistent with existing county zoning and the town comprehensive plan. Staff said ZM20250052 converts a county R‑20 parcel into the town’s SF‑1 designation, which staff described as the local equivalent of R‑20. For McMillan Drive (ZM20250042), staff said four property owners consented to annexation to correct split‑jurisdiction issues created by a recent county plat.
The council handled public hearings on both items with no members of the public signed up to speak on those cases. Each item was opened and closed to public comment, then passed by unanimous vote on motions to adopt the annexation ordinance, the zoning ordinance, and the statement of consistency that staff read into the record.
Other procedural actions during the meeting included approval of the meeting agenda and the consent agenda; both motions passed unanimously. The council also voted unanimously to suspend the rules to give additional time to a group speaker during public comments.
No additional conditions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes for the annexations. Staff told the council they would follow up on implementation steps required by state and local procedures for newly annexed parcels.
Ending — The ordinances and statements of consistency were adopted unanimously; staff will complete the administrative steps to implement the annexations and monitor any follow‑up required by applicable procedures.
