Residents raise long-running construction impacts and ask for clarity on a housing project during public comment
Summary
Two residents used the public-comment period to seek help: Robin Christiansen urged the council to address prolonged road construction, noise, dust, damaged property and mail-delivery disruptions on 5350; Parker Meacham asked staff for collaboration and clarity on his moderate-income housing project and requested a city callback.

During public comment at the Aug. 5 council meeting, Robin Christiansen, a resident who lives on 5350, told the council she has endured prolonged construction that has shaken her house, resulted in a flooded basement after a displaced floor drain, blocked mail delivery for nearly two weeks and left piles of dirt and dust on her property. She said the project timeline provided to residents stated 6 to 8 weeks, but she had heard it could take three to four months or longer and asked the city for information on how much longer the work will continue. Staff asked for her contact information to follow up directly.
Later in the public-comment period, Parker Meacham (introduced in the transcript as Parker Meekum, later corrected) identified himself as a Washington Terrace resident who has been pursuing a moderate-income housing project and said he has spent more than $20,000 on engineering and plan submissions. Meacham said he has multiple learning disabilities and asked only for "collaboration and clarity" from the city about what is required to move his project forward; he asked the council or staff to call him back and said he may be at risk of losing his properties if the project cannot proceed.
Council and staff offered to follow up with both residents after the meeting. City administration said staff would contact Christiansen to clarify construction timelines and would also follow up with Meacham to discuss project requirements and next steps.
Ending: Staff agreed to take both issues offline and contact the residents directly for follow-up.
