The Tamworth Select Board on Aug. 7 approved a set of motions including three tax-deed waivers, the purchase of a powered ambulance stretcher from the town’s rescue vehicle capital reserve fund, and mailing of a building‑notification letter to 222 filers with reimbursement capped at $22,200 to be paid from the 2025 contingency fund.
The board voted by roll call to approve three deed waivers identified in the meeting as Map 415, Lot 90, Sub Lot 35; Map 410, Lot 139, Sub Lot 200; and Map 211, Lot 14, Sub Lot 45. The motion was moved and seconded and approved by roll call (Barry, yes; Shaffer, yes; Roberts, yes).
The board then approved purchasing a refurbished powered stretcher and power-load system for the town ambulance for $27,600, to be paid from the rescue vehicle capital reserve fund. The purchase was moved, seconded and approved by roll call (Barry, yes; Chief, yes; Prince, yes; Roberts, yes). Officials said the truck is already wired for a powered system and the purchase is a refurbished unit priced about $27,600 versus roughly $40,000 for a new system.
The board approved mailing a notice to 222 people who filed a building-notification form and reimbursing residents up to a maximum of $22,200 (including $174 postage) from contingency; the motion passed by roll call (Barry, yes; Sheaffer, yes; Roberts, yes). The chair explained the $22,200 sum reflects a three-year statute of limitations on eligible refunds.
Other approved motions included:
- A painting contract for the police station with Cobalt Construction for $12,200 (motion approved by roll call).
- Approval of the SNH poll license for one poll on Whittier Road (motion approved).
- Approval of accounts payable totaling $307,319.29 (including $200,000 to the school, $18,750 to TCNA and $19,109 to the ambulance service) and payroll of $43,532.48; both motions passed by roll call.
The board also approved routine items including meeting minutes for July 15 and July 22 and certain nonpublic minutes and adjourned at 6:57 p.m.
Several board members noted ongoing follow-ups tied to those votes: the ambulance billing issue will be reconciled later after a regional contract amendment; the stretcher purchase was presented by the town’s rescue lead who researched options; and the building-notification mailing will be produced from contingency funds and mailed using standard (not registered) postage.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the approvals recorded at the meeting.
