The Mississippi Public Service Commission certified 28 telecommunications carriers as eligible telecommunications carriers for the 2026 Universal Service Fund program year after staff review and recommendation.
Mister Jones, a commission staff presenter, told the commission that each entity listed in agenda items 1 through 28 timely filed FCC Form 481 and other certifications required by the revised eligible telecommunications carrier checklist established in the commission’s Nov. 15, 2012 order (docket number recorded in meeting materials as 2005AD0062). The filings certify that federal high-cost support received in the prior calendar year was used only for the provision, maintenance and upgrading of supported facilities and services and that support will be used for those purposes in the upcoming 2026 program year.
Commissioner Carr asked whether all listed companies remained registered with the secretary of state; Jones said they were in good standing. Staff recommended certification of each carrier; a single motion to approve the block of 28 items was seconded and the commission approved the order by voice vote.
The staff summary indicated no interveners for these items.
