The council voted on several ordinances and motions, including abandoning a portion of an alley adjacent to Broadway Avenue and Seeley Avenue, text amendments to the 2015 Galveston Land Development Regulations that change spacing and interior landscaping requirements for auto dealership display areas, and transferring administration of short-term rental registration from the Park Board to the city, effective on or before Oct. 1, 2025. The council also approved an advance funding interlocal agreement supporting the Texas Department of Transportation’s Pelican Island Bridge replacement project, accepted the city attorney’s recommended disposition of Rosnovac v. City of Galveston (case no. 24CV2072), reappointed representatives to boards and called a public hearing on the FY2026 proposed budget and capital improvement plan for Aug. 28, 2025.
Votes and motions were recorded as unanimous for each item during the session. Where a recorded roll call or named vote was not read into the record, the council announced unanimous approval.
