At the July 23 council meeting Clark County staff said they will bring a resolution on Aug. 5 to implement a 0.1% criminal justice sales tax, pending confirmation of grant eligibility. Councilors gave staff a general "thumbs up" to proceed with the August 5 agenda item.
County staff said the proposed ordinance would tie implementation to successful eligibility for an associated grant; the sheriff's office is still reviewing grant eligibility. Council Chair Sue Marshall and other councilors asked that staff brief the council on any eligibility conditions or potential snags before final action.
No formal vote to adopt the tax was taken July 23; the council's direction was simply to place the resolution on the Aug. 5 agenda for formal consideration if eligibility is confirmed.
