Kearney City Council adopts easement to extend sanitary sewer for Tech 14 subdivision

The Kearney City Council on a voice/roll-call vote adopted Resolution No. 2025-80 to acquire a permanent sanitary sewer easement from Butler Machinery Company to serve the Tech 14 subdivision.
City Public Works Director Andy Harder said the easement runs along Highway 56 and will serve new development in the Tech 14 area just east of the electrical substation. "We're bringing forward a sanitary sewer easement that runs along 56. This is to serve the Tech 14 subdivision and the development going on out there," Harder said.
The resolution was introduced during public hearing number 1 and carried forward without public comment. The council closed the public hearing and moved to adopt the resolution; the mayor was absent for the roll call. The easement is granted by Travis Solberg, identified in the meeting as chief financial officer of Butler Machinery Company, a North Dakota corporation.
The discussion at the dais was brief and limited to the staff presentation and the formal adoption motion. No conditions or amendments were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council repeated its established practice of reading and taking action on easements needed for subdivision infrastructure; staff said the easement will allow sanitary sewer construction to proceed to serve the new lots in Tech 14.
