Staunton Fire & Rescue swears in promotions; four officers take oaths

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Butler introduced a group of recent promotions in the Staunton Fire & Rescue Department during the Oct. 23 council meeting. Council read oaths and participated in pinning ceremonies for four promoted officers.
Officials administered oaths of office to Deputy Chief Adam Dolan and promoted officers Captain Justin Syren, Lieutenant Jordan Taylor and Lieutenant Bradley Goodbar. Each officer repeated the oath, pledging to support the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to "faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me" of their respective posts.
Council recessed praise and photographs followed the pinning ceremonies. City and department leaders described the promotions as recognition of service and preparation for expanded departmental responsibilities. No formal council action was required beyond the ceremonial recognition.
