Several 4‑H youth addressed the Codington County Commission on Aug. 5 to report on achievement days and recent competition results. Speakers described current shows and thanked volunteers and judges.
Lexi Riley of the Country Club 4‑H Club told commissioners she had shown a dog and made a blouse for fashion review and described how 4‑H improved her communication skills. Zeklyn Gorap of the Torchlight 4‑H Club said they were showing pigs, had prepared trifolds, posters and horticulture exhibits, and had received purple and blue ribbons; Gorap said they hoped to compete at nationals in Arkansas.
Staff noted 4‑H achievement days run through Aug. 7 and said youth have until Aug. 12 to register for the South Dakota State Fair; results at the state fair will be posted on extension.sdstate.edu under 4‑H and State Fair. Staff said the new 4‑H year begins Oct. 1, 2025.
