Commission accepts Basin Construction bid for highway shop concrete and door work

The Codington County Board of Commissioners accepted a $417,203 bid from Basin Construction for a highway truck-storage improvement project during its Aug. 26 meeting.
Randy Falvey, the county highway superintendent, told the board the project will replace the building’s current gravel floor with a concrete floor and drainage to allow thawing and cleaning of trucks in winter, and will include lower insulation and reinstallation of doors. “This year's project is strictly for the concrete, the lower insulation of the building, and reinstalling doors,” Falvey said.
Bids opened at the meeting showed four bidders and totals: Century LLC — $506,954; Grama Construction — $485,000; Capital Construction LLC — $436,254; and Basin Construction — $417,203. Falvey and county staff reviewed the documentation and confirmed Basin met bid requirements, including acknowledgment of addendums and a 10% bid bond.
Commissioner Gable moved to accept Basin Construction’s bid; Commissioner McElhaney seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Falvey said staff would move forward with the contracting process and return to the county for any further action if issues arose in final documentation or bonding. No change to the project’s scope was made at the meeting.
