Solon schools report 453 AP scholars, announce fall activities and child-find notice

The presenter emphasized the district requires students who take an AP course to also take the AP exam and noted many colleges accept AP scores of 3 or higher for credit.
Staff also announced fall spirit themes and events: a tropical theme on Aug. 22, a U.S.A. theme Aug. 29, the first home football game Sept. 5 with a "welcome back Kindness Community Tailgate" and an honor for the class of 2000 state runner-up football team; a neon-themed Sept. 12 game; Band Bash on Sept. 13 at Solon High School Stadium with participating schools listed; and a show-choir cabaret on Sept. 6 with tickets and silent-auction bidding details available through the district's online portals.
The district repeated its annual federal child-find notice: families in Solon and Glen Willow who have concerns that a child may have a disability should contact the district for assessment. Staff said the announcement is federally required and will be posted on the district website and distributed through district communications. On the record, staff confirmed there is no statewide mandate to conduct a general kindergarten disability screening, though kindergarteners do receive standard developmental screeners in the district.
