Dwayne Kruse described the event as a Saturday-into-evening celebration with activities dating to the festival’s first celebration in 1972 and noted the committee added new elements while maintaining traditions like free coffee and donuts.
Kruse said the event will use different parts of downtown to stage activities for “people of all ages.” The council approved the request after a motion and second; the vote was voice-approved with no recorded dissent.
City staff will coordinate event details and volunteer needs; the city administrator later reminded council the event is Oct. 18 and asked for volunteers to hand out coffee and doughnuts.
