The council voted unanimously to authorize the city manager to negotiate contract extensions with the three firms. The extensions are for as‑needed municipal infrastructure design and project services; individual projects would still be assigned based on capacity, fees and technical fit.
On a separate agenda item, the council approved buying two Ford Lightning electric trucks through a statewide price agreement with Kendall Ford. City staff said the total project cost is about $148,011 and that Brookings’ required local match is 10.27 percent of the project; federal tax credits and other incentives are expected to reduce the city’s net cost. Tony, the city manager, said the city narrowed the grant scope to prioritize fleet charging at City Hall and that charging stations for public access were removed from this phase.
