DeKalb County Drainage Board members on Aug. 21 voted to approve a utility permit for AES to bore under a regulated drain, accepted an underground-contractor plan for the Auburn sewer extension and amended earlier meeting minutes.
The actions were taken during the board's regular meeting after staff presented location details and the surveyor's recommendations. Board members voted by voice for each motion and the chair announced the motions carried.
The AES permit covers work to serve two homes and involves boring under regulated drain 86-34-1 (James Ferguson lateral Spur 1) and County Road 27 to serve 6324 and 6340 (addressing and parcel references as presented). The applicant stated the project will use 1.25-inch conduit and will bore at least 48 inches below the tile where it crosses the regulated drain. The board accepted the permit per the surveyor's recommendation and recorded a voice vote in favor.
On the underground-contractors item, the board approved Underground Contractors of Woodburn, Indiana, to perform work for the Auburn Sewer Extension that will cross a regulated drain in the Cedar Creek watershed (identified in staff remarks as the CO Metcalfe Lateral 1 Spur 1, regulated drain number 83-01-1). The applicant, Adam Scheider of Underground Contractors, confirmed the contractor will locate the county tile before boring and agreed to a minimum 3-foot clearance from the tile; the board voted to accept the contractor per the surveyor's recommendation.
During minutes approval the board also amended the Aug. 7, 2025 Erwin Selkie hearing minutes to clarify a start time entry; that amended motion carried by voice vote.
