Fire department reports new part-time inspector, upcoming fire-safety event for children

The Pleasant Grove fire department told the city council at the Sept. 16 work session that it has hired a part-time inspector and plans a public fire-safety event for school-age children in October (Fire Prevention Month).
Chief Brown (fire chief) said the new inspector has allowed the department to increase inspections by about 15–20 extra inspections per week and will help the city catch up on restaurant hood and spring-system inspections that had lagged. The chief described the planned October event as a three-hour, family-oriented demonstration featuring a state trailer for smoke/safety training, hands-on displays, a mascot (Sparky) and take-home materials.
The department said it will circulate date and details in the city newsletter and welcome volunteer support from students or community groups. No formal council action was requested at the work session.
