County authorizes Water Trust Board applications for Pareto tank repaint and Pareto Road main replacement

Utilities staff said the county plans to apply for approximately $1,280,000 to repaint Pareto Tank 4A — a tank that serves Los Alamos National Laboratory areas — and to replace about 5,000 feet of water transmission main on Pareto Road, a pipeline staff described as increasingly failing. Applications are due in the week following the council meeting; award notifications were expected in February 2026 and construction in 2027 if funded.
Councilor Reiting moved adoption of the resolution and Councilor Hand seconded. The resolution passed unanimously by roll call, 6–0, with one member absent. Staff said the resolution is procedural and required to certify council concurrence for submission of completed Water Trust Board applications. If awarded, the projects would proceed through the county’s capital project process and require separate award-acceptance actions and budget adjustments.
