The department provided additional activity counts: 151 alarm calls, 969 911 hang‑ups, 257 business checks, 157 reports taken and a total of 245 reports within the month. The officer said patrols are being encouraged to be visible throughout neighborhoods.
The department also described a recent multi‑agency DUI checkpoint held with Monroe Police, Stallings and other partners. The checkpoint used a mobile processing unit (referred to in the meeting as the Batmobile) with an on‑site magistrate and multiple breathalyzer stations; jail staff were available to process arrestees on scene. The operation ran until about 1:30 a.m. to avoid prolonged towing at a private parking lot; several vehicles were towed and a number of stops and arrests were made, the officer said.
The department said it will present traffic analysis data at the next council meeting and invited council questions about public safety needs.
