The Murfreesboro Planning Commission voted Aug. 6 to recommend annexation of roughly 2.42 acres along John R. Rice Boulevard and Spike Trail and to recommend rezoning most of the parcel to Planned Commercial District (PCD) with a GDO‑1 design overlay to allow an off‑site Nelson Mazda office and vehicle storage yard.
Planning staff presented the annexation and companion zoning application. Matthew Barbee, planning staff, said the parcel is contiguous with city limits, inside the urban growth boundary and service infill line, and “services can be extended to the subject property immediately upon annexation.” He said staff reviewed the application with other city departments and was in favor of the annexation and…
