Orono school board approves consent agenda including SEIU MOU, wages and $136,692.62 in donations

The Orono Public School District School Board approved the meeting consent agenda, adopting a group of routine items that included a memorandum of understanding with the Service Employees International Union for child nutrition preschool staff, wage schedules for substitutes, test proctors, summer grounds workers and athletic coaches for the 2025–26 school year, and acceptance of donations totaling $136,692.62.

The consent package also authorized the district’s Local Educational Agency representative for 2025–26, approved the annual Minnesota Department of Education statement of assurances, accepted a summary of the superintendent’s end-of-year evaluation, and continued district membership in the Association of Metropolitan School Districts, BrightWorks and the Minnesota School Boards Association. It included routine financial approvals for bill vouchers, electronic funds transfers and capital entries.

Board members moved and seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda and the chair called for the vote. Board chair (unnamed), Board member Tim, Board member Todd, Board member Wendy and Board member Gavin registered aye votes; no oppositions or abstentions were recorded on the audio record.

The approval allows district staff to proceed with personnel placements and contract implementation tied to the MOU and wage schedules and to allocate and record the listed donations in district accounts. The board did not provide further detail in the public record on the sources or intended program uses for each donation beyond the total accepted amount.

The board announced its next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the District Office Assembly Room.
