Councilmember Charlotte provided an update on the city’s follow-up audit and morale survey for the South Salt Lake Police Department, announcing the selection of Jones, Skelton & Pochuli to conduct the work.
Charlotte said the city issued a request for proposals, received four responses (three from out of state), and selected Jones, Skelton & Pochuli in part because the firm has a local office and proposed a faster completion timeline than some respondents. She said Heather White of the firm will lead the audit.
Charlotte told the council the firm’s practice includes insurance defense work, including defense of cities and city employees in civil-rights and other civil litigation. She said the city is committed to hearing from both sworn and unsworn police employees and pledged that, once the audit results are available, the findings will be presented on the public record.
Charlotte also thanked City Manager Ray and councilmember Nick (and city staff) for assisting in the RFP process and said the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) had input on the RFP.
No formal vote was recorded on the selection in the transcript; Charlotte presented the update and said the city will proceed with the audit and publish results when available.
