Board ratifies updated collective bargaining agreement with United Faculty of Florida

Vice President for Legal Affairs David Brickhouse presented the item, telling trustees the faculty union approved the agreement by more than 90 percent in a membership vote. Brickhouse said the pay adjustments “match[] what Governor DeSantis and the Florida legislature did for other state employees.”
Trustee Harvey moved the ratification; Trustee Bauerlein seconded. Trustees conducted a roll-call vote and recorded approval. Counsel said the changes are reflected in the action item presented to the board.
The agreement affects represented faculty through the negotiated changes; trustees did not discuss contract language in detail during the meeting beyond the salary adjustment and union ratification percentage. The board moved immediately afterward to act on a separate item to provide a parallel salary adjustment for out-of-unit employees.
Chair Jinx announced the motion carried following the roll-call vote.
