Anna Hansen, ODOT area manager, reported the west leg of the Flower Corner roundabout paving is complete and the west leg is planned to open Monday, Aug. 11; finish grading, sign work and disturbed‑ground seeding will follow. A final grind to match the roundabout to Highway 99 is scheduled for Sept. 9.
On the larger Oregon 2251 corridor work, ODOT staff said consultants have split a roughly $250 million program into smaller, independently fundable projects. Federal Highway Administration agreed the first piece — an interchange at Oregon 22 and Oregon 51 — has independent utility and will be advanced to 50% design and environmental review; ODOT said design work is expected to begin in January with later funding to be sought.
Kings Valley Highway work is in final plans and is expected to go to bid in December with construction next year. ODOT said the most recent estimate for the roundabout and realignment work is roughly $3 million less than current funding, pending final bids.
Utility delay and claims: Hansen said Pacific Power caused a one‑year delay on the Flower Corner schedule and the contractor submitted a delay claim in the ballpark of $300,000; ODOT reported it has negotiated Pacific Power payments in the neighborhood of $250,000 but had not yet received the funds.
Stapleton Road safety: Commissioners raised recent serious crashes on Stapleton Road and urged ODOT to pursue more than temporary measures. ODOT staff said they are checking the status of planned intersection warning signs with flashing lights, will follow up with traffic staff and will return with an update.
No board action was taken on these updates; ODOT staff said they will continue follow up with the commission and return with additional details or funding notices as projects progress.
