Huerfano County commissioners approve multiple contracts, intergovernmental election agreement and vendor payments

Huerfano County commissioners voted on several routine but consequential administrative items at their Aug. 5 Board of County Commissioners meeting, approving an intergovernmental agreement on election services, awarding professional-services contracts for the county surveyor and a community wildfire protection plan and approving the county’s August vendor payment run.
The actions were presented during the meeting’s action-item portion and passed by voice vote. Commissioners present recorded affirmative votes for each motion as the board conducted business.
The board approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the county clerk and a local school district concerning election services. County staff described the IGA as an agreement “concerning services by and between the Huerfano County Clerk and Recorder and the [school district] RE-2” (as read into the record). No questions were recorded during the discussion and the motion to accept the IGA passed.
The board also awarded RFP number 2025-ASH-04 (as listed in staff materials) seeking a licensed county surveyor. The RFP review committee recommended Leverington and Associates, with Robert Leverington named in the motion as the proposed county surveyor. The motion to approve the award to Leverington and Associates passed by voice vote.
Separately, the board considered RFP number 2025-05 seeking proposals to prepare a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for Huerfano County. County staff said the county received multiple submissions and that a review committee recommended the INBER (as read) Alliance for the award. Commissioners voted to approve the award to the recommended consultant.
Finally, the board addressed the county’s August vendor payment run. Staff said some changes had been made to the draft payment list and stated an amount in the meeting materials (initially read as $907,229.57). During the motion and vote the figure referenced aloud varied in the record; the board amended the motion to correct the number immediately before calling for the final vote and approved the vendor run. Meeting staff also noted routine correspondence and reports were submitted for the record, and the board had no executive-session items. The meeting adjourned following the actions.
