MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Plan Commission on July 28 voted to recommend that the Common Council approve a revised schedule for the city’s 12 area plans, moving the downtown area plan onto a separate timeline and reorganizing the order in which other area plans will be completed.
The change, presented by planner Brian Grady of the Planning Division, shifts the downtown plan to run independently so it can be coordinated with an upcoming Greater Downtown economic investment strategy by Downtown Madison Inc. (DMI) and an expected campus framework process by UW–Madison. The commission approved forwarding the resolution to council by unanimous voice vote.
