Rick Stolle delivered a July 4 report to the Lima City Council, describing the annual event as a complex, multi‑partner effort that ran safely and drew broad participation.
"We had over 400 folks involved in that race this year," Stolle said, describing the road race that opens the day’s events. He praised the Lima Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department, parks and streets crews, volunteers and major sponsors for helping the event run safely.
Stolle listed other recurring event elements: a car show, fishing derby, a spike ball tournament that draws regional competitors, and the Lima Area Concert Band. He said the group coordinates cleanup efforts on July 5 and thanked partner organizations and volunteers who support the event.
He also noted the city will look ahead to July 4, 2026, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary and encouraged the community to plan for next year’s celebration.
No formal council action followed the report; it was presented as an informational update.
