The Public Defender Service Corporation Board of Trustees on July 22 voted to table a resolution that would compile seven miscellaneous rules into an omnibus document governing the Private Attorney Panel. Trustees asked management to produce a comprehensive draft of recommendations before the board takes final action.
During discussion, trustees said they expected management to compile existing miscellaneous rules and forms into a single compendium that addresses provisions set out in the resolution’s resolved clause. Staff committed to provide a draft of the consolidated rules two weeks before the August meeting.
Trustees set an additional meeting for Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 12:30 p.m., and discussed meeting logistics, including making that meeting in person. The board said it intended the Aug. 19 meeting to be the final meeting of the outgoing board and to deliver recommendations to the new board after the incoming trustees are sworn in.
A motion to table the resolution was moved and seconded at the July 22 meeting and carried by voice vote with no objections; four trustees were present for the vote and one trustee was absent.
Board staff said they will compile the draft with assistance from finance and program staff and circulate it to trustees before the Aug. 19 meeting to expedite review.
