Councilors asked about international service; Stava said the airport is focusing first on Mexico and Canada and cited efforts to support guaranteed-revenue programs that helped secure direct flights to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. He said the airport is now typically targeting markets such as Cancun, Cabo, Mexico City, Montreal and Vancouver and is pursuing opportunities for charter and tour-operator international service.
The presiding councilor stated Stava’s reappointment will be on the July 30, 5 p.m. confirmation agenda. No vote was recorded during the July 23 session.
