West Haven SSD approves consent agenda, hears updates on lift‑station work and manhole repairs

The West Haven Special Service District on July 21 approved its consent agenda and received staff updates on several sewer-system projects, including a manhole rehabilitation project out to bid and a delay at the 2700 West lift station caused by a mis‑marked utility line.

The board voted to approve the consent agenda items listed as 6A through 6N, which included recurring bills and project payments. Line items noted in the public packet included West Haven City administrative services ($55,632.15 for June), storm drain fees to West Haven City ($53,274.33 for May and June), garbage fees to West Haven City ($159,277.71 for May and June), a $25,000 annual bond payment to the Utah State Division of Finance, a $402,324 second‑quarter impact fee payment to Central Weaver, and invoices for engineering and manhole work including Rock Hard Excavating ($7,200) and Gardner Engineering (two invoices, $5,947.50 and $17,001.20). The motion to approve the consent agenda passed with aye votes recorded from Board member Alicia, Board member James, and Clarence Kelly.

Staff member John presented the project updates. He said the manhole rehabilitation project is out for bid with a scheduled bid opening on Aug. 6, and that multiple contractors have expressed interest. “Just real brief tonight. Everything's moving ahead, the stuff that we have out there,” John said.

John reported work on the 2700 West lift station is delayed while the local power company relocates a buried service line that was mis‑marked. He said the company’s marking was off by about 15 feet and crews have not yet moved the line, which is holding up excavation and wet‑well work.

Crews have continued to raise buried manholes around town, John said, noting that the district raised seven manholes this spring and expects three more soon, bringing the current total to about 10 raised to date. He said the district budgeted $30,000 for manhole raising last year and has used roughly $7,000–$8,000 so far.

John also said the district received submittals for new pumps and variable‑frequency drives (VFDs) for the 4700 lift station and expects updates on that project before the next meeting. He reported on recent generator load tests, saying technicians ran the tests but one generator’s louvers did not open during testing; the district is seeking a quote to repair the louvers and said it will delay allowing the generator to run on schedule until the louvers are fixed to avoid overheating.

The meeting was brief and included no extended public comment on the items discussed. The board adjourned after approving the consent agenda and completing the staff update.
