The Rowan County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 20 approved a rezoning petition (ZO7-25) from RA to CBI for a group of parcels on the south side of East NC 152 near the intersection of Faith and Oregon Church Road.
Planning staff described the subject parcels as a collective of roughly 3 acres with nearby properties already zoned CBI and a history of nonresidential uses in the corridor. The staff presentation noted the Western/East Area land-use context and showed that the request bordered existing CBI properties; the planning board had unanimously recommended approval and provided a statement for the board’s consideration.
A commissioner offered a statement of reasonableness on the record, saying the request is consistent with the East Area Land Use Plan and is a logical extension of existing commercial zoning along the NC 152 corridor. The board moved, seconded and approved the rezoning; there were no public comments at the hearing.
Ending: The board approved ZO7-25 and the planning department will record the ordinance amendment and ensure conditions of the rezoning (if any) are met.
