Manager Saxton asked trustees to adopt the routes and zones for next school year. Trustees asked follow‑up questions from patrons who had contacted them about children walking from Heritage Farms to Hubbard and concerns about crossing Linder Road. Saxton said the route fits within the district's mile‑and‑a‑half walking standard and that crossing guards and sidewalk connections will be in place; staff said they are coordinating with the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) on a proposed asphalt improvement and warning beacons at an intersection on Linder.
Trustees moved and seconded a motion to accept the proposed routes and zones. Trustees recorded aye votes from Kirsty, Michael, JD, Anne Tillery and the board chair, and the motion passed unanimously.
Trustees asked staff to continue outreach to families to explain safe walking paths and to confirm crossing‑guard coverage at key intersections before school begins. Saxton said the district has ordered flashing crosswalk signage and planned student training on safe crossings.
