Oshkosh sustainability board approves comprehensive energy plan, forwards it to City Council

The Oshkosh Sustainability Advisory Board on Oct. 6 approved a revised comprehensive energy plan and agreed to forward the document to City Council for consideration.

Board members said the consultant updated numerical estimates and building-priority rankings after correcting earlier calculations. Board staff told members the plan will go to City Council the following week for review and action.

Board discussion focused on changes to energy-usage numbers for priority buildings and corresponding shifts in return-on-investment and project priority rankings. A member noted the consultant had corrected a calculation error that moved some buildings between priority tiers. No substantive new policy language was added at this meeting; members described the edits as updates and clarifications to previously reviewed material.

A board member moved to approve the plan and another seconded; the board then conducted a roll-call vote. The roll call recorded seven affirmative votes and no opposing or abstaining votes. After the vote, staff said they expect to present a memo and the consultant’s materials to City Council, and that the consultant and staff will meet in the coming weeks to finalize remaining chapters.

The Sustainability Advisory Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3.
