The Azusa Unified School District Board of Education on Aug. 12 voted to remove the governance workshop scheduled for Aug. 19 and directed staff to propose alternative dates, while approving the remainder of the 2025–26 board meeting calendar.
Board Member Greer moved to reschedule the governance workshop and Board Member Rodriguez Pena seconded; the board then voted, with the student board member casting a preferential vote of “approve” and the three present trustees voting “yes.” The motion passed with three yes votes and two absent trustees.
Superintendent Ortega said staff will provide alternative Tuesday dates as a default and that the calendar will return for formal approval at the Sept. 9 board meeting after the district circulates proposed dates. The board’s motion explicitly stated that the governance meeting scheduled for next week will not occur and will be set for a future date.
The vote was taken as part of the calendar item; no changes to other calendar dates were recorded during the meeting.
